Do you switch to the nothing option on the scale, go full out with sharing everything or somewhere in between?
While i do tend to go full out so as to help devs to improve the OS, Windows experience makes we weary about this choice.
I go along with that. Always allow Debian during install to poll my package usage.
I think it is OK as long as it stays optional.
I would not expect or want any info collected to be associated with my identity. It should be anonymous, like a census.

Sometimes, words don’t always mean what we think.
Just wanted to be reassured in my hunch (interpretation) so that it matches with yours, and that no personal data is shared along the line.
