Logged off from It's FOSS again?

I was peacefully reading this forum when I clicked on the (useful!) link to It’s FOSS only to find out I have to login again…

Why does this happen? Is there any way to prevent this?

Perhaps use something like bitwarden to manage your passwords? Makes re-logging in to sites very easy. I have noticed recently on some Discourse sites (as this one is) they have been introducing a check to make sure you are not a bot. The first time they did that one Discourse site I use, I had to re-log in. Maybe tha is what has happened in your case.

Thank you for the quick answer and suggestion. I already use Proton Pass. But the login in It’s FOSS is simply a validation of the email. I have no idea why it expires or how to prevent that? I did not empty my cookie jar…

Please let us know if that is repeated every time so we can investigate further for you

Thank you @callpaul.eu, I will.

Note to myself: this was on my home Asus laptop running LM 22.3, logged in on Firefox

I agree. This is really annoying.
I understand that there are two different URLs with different IP addresses. I also understand that cross-site cookies might be a bad thing. But I would truly appreciate it if we could switch between both sites without reentering our credentials over and over again.

ah which “useful” link are you clicking?

clicking on the logo on the top bar doesn’t require a re-log in but

if I go to the very top of the page on the top bar and click on

the It’s FOSS link there, it does… it takes you to this page:-

The top one, the link to the It’s FOSS website. This community forum is a separate website with a regular login and pwd so there is no problem here.

The other site uses the same credential for login. But we have to log in there over and over, including this strange email code verification.

only ever happens to me when there’s something just plain wrong on the It’s FOSS newsletter website and I feel an instant compulsion to rectify that innaccuracy :

And then I have to go through the whole MFA shennanigan just to comment or reply

and by the time I’ve suffered through all that - I no longer care… only kidding - I’m ‘neurodivergent’ - I always care
