Looking for a Linux distribution chart

I’m wondering if there’s ever been a table/spreadsheet created to provide a basic breakdown of most, if not all, distros at a glance. I’m not talking about subjective metrics like some charts display (e.g. user friendliness, cutting edge, community, etc.), but about objective criteria like the following:

  1. Available architecture
  2. Desktop environments (possibly with individual categories for filing system, window manager, terminal, etc.)
  3. Shell
  4. Package manager
  5. Installation (e.g. CLI, Calamares, etc.)
  6. Unique features (the one or two most distro-specific items)

I can’t imagine one doesn’t exist somewhere, but I couldn’t find one with a cursory search. If an up-to-date and comprehensive one doesn’t exist, perhaps I could start one and the community could help fill it in. I have ideas on how to organize it, but we’ll only cross the bridge if necessary.

P.S. If I need to move this to “Find Me a Distro,” please let me know. I put it here since I’m not asking for help finding a specific distro in this post.

Guess the closest could be distrowatch.com… but it does not comparer them by your details

But one can filter on this page: https://distrowatch.com/search.php#advanced with a number of properties mentioned by @Thunder_Chicken

I think you will find something like that on Wikipedia.
You may have to combine several tables.

I think someone on this site wrote a web site tool, which asked about memory, processor etc then made a recommandation based on that.

But cannot remember who it was or when, did a quick search but could not find the question or reply.

Hi all, :waving_hand:

how about

I´ve lready used it in the past.

Although it doesn´t provide much info reagrding the indivudual distros it seems to offer an amazing look at “one glance”.

Cheers from Rosika :slightly_smiling_face:

I’d looked at the distros by popularity on there, but evidently had never looked at one individually: it has some really handy tools! Their table for each distro is pretty close to what I was looking for, though I see two things that I would like to be different: 1). A larger table that allows for more than one distro to be viewed at a time, and 2). Updated/more detailed info. On CachyOS for example, it only lists one of the boot managers that it mades readily available (though I understand you don’t want to make the table too crowded).

Thank you. This is even closer to what I was looking for. Between these two resources, I think I have what I want for my purposes. As someone still relatively early in their Linux journey, having that info at a glance is quite helpful.

Thanks everyone.
