MS Windows DOWNGRADE - what bargains should I look for?

With the upcoming forced downgrade of MS Windows (11 is NOT an improvement…) I am seeing a lot of talk about a lot of hardware getting sent to e-waste because it isn’t sufficiently broken to run W11…

Nothing really wrong with my current hardware (early gen I5 and I7 machines) but I wouldn’t mind getting something faster / newer…

However I haven’t made any real effort to keep track of what is currently latest / greatest in the way of CPU’s, graphics cards, and so on, especially what is going to be at the leading edge of the ‘orphaned’ hardware?

I run Debian GNU/Linux, no interest at all in anything Microsoft… I’m not a gamer, but I do a good bit of CAD (using FreeCAD) along with the usual browsing, office and assorted other tasks like that…

I’d like to get some laptops, and a pair of desktops. For the desktops I’d like something that I can transplant into my existing giant ATX format Cooler-Master cases (one w/ a nice liquid cooling unit) and probably with several available PCI slots… If it matters, my current monitor collection are all DVI input… (however a quick search suggests that HDMI / DVI adapters are cheap)

Suggestions?

You need a reasonable graphics card with at least 4Gb of vram (preferably 8), but not a super gaming card. It is preferable to get an AMD graphics card ( rather than Nvidia) for Linux, so there will be no trouble with proprietary drivers.

When you get any computer the main thing to get , that will keep it usable for many years, is lots of ram and fast ram… and, of course a fast cpu helps.

In motherboards, I would be looking for lots of SATA ports

Disks dont matter…they are easily replaced.

Sorry I can only give a general answer. I have no idea what exW10 computers may be available
