The only downside I can see is that it uses systemd. There are better and faster init systems.
I am interested in fast distros, might give it a try.
If you do post a reply how you like it
I was pretty sure I’d seen it before. A quick search found this.
Forgive me if I shouldn’t necro this, but in case it helps someone else looking to try it, CachyOS actually offers several other boot managers. Offered Boot Managers | CachyOS
If anyone is interested, they have a really nice wiki and forum.
I was over at Distro Watch the other day and noticed that Cachyos had a lot of interest. It was pegged at the number one slot on all 4 columns. Of course Distro Watch only records the hits from their site. A comment from Distro Watch said “CachyOS is a Linux distribution based on Arch Linux. It focuses on speed and security optimisations …”
I have seen on here that some people like to distro hop and/or try new distro. So I was just wondering if any users of this forum has tried this (kind of) new Linux distro.
Yes it is surprising how popular it has become.
The only things I can see that might explain that are
It would be the first Arch based distro to make it to the top on distrowatch.
I wonder how it copes with AUR packages?
It is not on my list because it only offers systemd init system.
There is an article on Cachyos in tbe next (January) Linux Magazine … I get a preview.
