No sound from dvd player only

The main point is that “problem solved”, but I suggested trying a non-existetn package. :slight_smile:
I live in my Debian ecosystem, and here libdvdcss2 is the package that contains the stuff necessary to decrypt the factory scrambled DVD.

That’s why I assumed Ubuntu should have a similar named component, my assumption was clearly wrong.
Seems, Ubuntu put this thing in libdvd-pkg (?? or whatever) package.
I suggested libdvdcss2 because the symptoms (distorted image, and audio) is very typical.
I have no idea about Kaffeine, I never used it.

So actually it´s taken care of automatically.

I also looked it up on my system (Linux Lite 6.2.), which is based on Ubuntu and indeed found both installed by default:

dglob libdvdcss2
libdvdcss2:amd64

and

dglob libdvd-pkg
libdvd-pkg:all

That´s funny.

So I took a look at the official ubuntu packages page (Ubuntu – Details of package libdvd-pkg in jammy )
and here: Ubuntu – Package Search Results -- libdvdcss2 .

The latter says:

You have searched for packages that names contain libdvdcss2 in all suites, all sections, and all architectures.

Sorry, your search gave no results

but libdvd-pkg is available, of course.

I also looked it up on my system:
