Obscure GNU/Linux Distributions that May Interest You

In the ZDNET Tech Today newsletter that came into my inbox today, there’s an item that interested me, and I immediately thought about all my fellow !T’S FOSS’ers! You can read the item for yourself here, but one distribution in particular caught my attention, because it offers only open source software throughout, and it eschews systemd, and instead offers several other init systems users can choose from, including OpenRC, Runit, s6, and SysV (list copied directly from the article), which brought Neville Jackson to mind  (I hope you enjoy this one, Nevj!).

I hope the linked article provides some of you some interesting reading, or perhaps a bit of fun experimenting with/discovering some unique distributions, and perhaps helps you find your next new GNU/Linux distribution of choice!

Thanks Ernie,
I shall have a look at Gnuinos.
Sometimes these all free distros can be difficult … we shall see.
Interesting article

That’s true, but since Gnuinos claims to eshew systemd, and I know hoew you feel about all that, I figured you may be interested, so if you get time to check it out, add another reply to let me know what you think.

I just installed LinuxHub Prime in a VM (QEMU/KVM), and I like their KDE DE customization’s, but I find their Hyperland implementation wanting …

I read about GoboLinux a few years ago. It seems like an interesting idea. Maybe not super practical for the average user, but interesting.

I agree! It may not be my cup of tea, but I’m sure someone who reads It’s FOSS will find it useful! The same goes for all the distributions mentioned
