What people think about corporate ethics seems to vary
some are unaware
some ignore it and use the product anyway … maybe the majority
some enjoy being ‘known’ … advertising thrives on this
some want privacy … corporate dsta is seen as a threat
some see it as a moral or criminal issue
From where I am it seems Linux users can be in any of the above categories … they do not all move to Linux to avoid corporate data collection… they come to Linux for a variety of reasons.
At one stage when microsoft moved from the word 6 icon bar to the new format menu system they said it was due to user experiance of watching what was used and in what way.
I really hâte the newer versions of word excel etc and that new bar. Give me libre office, open office or the okder word 6 format of icons and menus.
Is the software watching me, very much doubt it, and they would be very quickly asleep as I never do anything interesting on it.
But strange, today I put on youtube and a former student appeared from 20 years ago, I have never looked for him or done any research about him, so somewhere youtube connected us. So perhaps someone is watching me.
