I create and manage the web site for our village. Photos of events future and passed. With a calendar of events. Very popular, used by residents and visitors for planning of what is going on.
I discovered this week, someone was downloading these images and using them on other social media sites which we dont want to be associated with, and without our permission.
The site is in wordpress so installed a extension no right click and that prevents as it suggests no copies, no download etc… works superb.
But, part of our system is to send out messages using whatsapp, so the morning of an event whatsapp message with the image thats on our site. Sent to all members who register to receive.
By default when you get a image on whatsapp its saved into a folder in images. That can then be used on other social media sites outside of our control.
Yes the recipient can select stop saving them but I want the sender to be able to block a save option.
There is no help on whatsapp site and they dont reply to direct questions. Anyone use or know a fix ?
We already have the image of our association in the corner of the main image
Yes i had thought watermark originally
Or not including the member in the circulation list, but then discovered she wanders around and takes pictures of the flyer on her camera and then posts that. The file name gave it away, as the original was called galette de roi and her post was img000123 an auto number from a camera
Copyright law is not worth running and trademark too complex
We do around 350 events per year in our village so trying to follow everyone is difficult
I was thinking that if you defaced each image with a watermark that would make it less attractive for copying, but it would still convey the content to your members.
