Question about response from openSUSE

Have a problem with my long running opensuse Tumbleweed system (it used to work perfectly until I upgraded).

Went to lots of sites and was referred to an open suse user forum, tried to join 4 times, site never sent a verification token, so I emailed the admin and never got an answer. I did find an email in the inbox telling me I emailed to the wrong email address, so I emailed to the provided address and requested they start a process ticket as instructed. No response .

My question is does anyone know if they are that busy, have better things to do or is that the way opensuse functions I have always thought very highly of open/SUSE and am very surprised

Hi @Here_We_Go_Again ,
There must be some mistake… Opensuse have a good reputation.
Check that you are not looking at an out of date website.

Neville

Reading between the lines - I’m assuming the forum the OP tried to join is a community / volunteer / third party forum - not necessarily run by SUSE or the developers of OpenSUSE - making that assumption as the OP didn’t provide a URL…

Or is it this one ? :

Which seems legit.

We don’t have a lot of OpenSUSE users onboard this forum… So I’m not sure if anyone here can help you… I’ve tried OpenSuse (usually a VM on and off over the years) but not for a while - maybe more than 10 years?

I did used to run SUSE EL (not necessarily OpenSUSE) as my main Linux distro in the early 2000’s…

Hi @Here_We_Go_Again,

The web site @daniel.m.tripp pointed out is active when I visited the site. Have you tried any other places for support? You are not alone about having problems with registration or maybe this is you?

I found this at reddit.com which was posted 3 days ago.
" I seem to be in the wrong place, I was trying to respond to a comment made by MarkG_108 and didn’t realize it was 6 years old I also tried to join the forum 3 times but they never sent me a token ( I think signing up 3 times my email address should be right at least once) I am assuming they are “closed”

Emailing admin was never answered. After using open SUSE Tumbleweed since it’s beginning and not being able to use it now it could be time to move on. Anyone having similar problems has my sympathy "

You could try posting your problem here that you are having running your Tumbleweed system. Someone might be able to help.

Hello Howard it keeps telling me it has been solved when I try to respond

Lou

Hello The original sight I tried to join was IDP-Portal.suse.com/uninvention/self service —No token sent. The latest one was myaccount suse.com (your account may be locked —No response. I could go on and on (all this week) but I don’t want to waste any more of your time.

I will take your advice and post a new topic thanks

I have been working on my tumbleweed problem for a week and will have to be in a better mood before I sit down and think about how to summarize the mess

I just registered for an account at https://forums.opensuse.org. The response was sent a instructions to your email to complete registration…NO RESPONSE YET big surprise

I don’ have there email address so I can’t question anyone I think this is the end of the line

Hi Louis,

Providing support on your registration to another web site goes beyond anything we can do. Posting the problem you are having with Tumbleweed may result in getting some answers. I suggested this to you earlier.

Regards,
Howard

Thanks for your help.

I have just been busy doing other things and and looking for more OpenSsuse sites

Here are the main openSUSE and Tumbleweed support sites that I found;

Official openSUSE Support https://www.opensuse.org/support/ https://doc.opensuse.org/ https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Support (en.opensuse.org in Bing) https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Main_Page (en.opensuse.org in Bing) https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/

Tumbleweed‑specific Resources https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumbleweed (en.opensuse.org in Bing) https://review.tumbleweed.boombatower.com/ (review.tumbleweed.boombatower.com in Bing) https://openqa.opensuse.org/ https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/factory@lists.opensuse.org/ (lists.opensuse.org in Bing)

Community Support https://forums.opensuse.org/ openSUSE 🦎 https://matrix.to/#/#opensuse-factory:opensuse.org (matrix.to in Bing) https://www.reddit.com/r/openSUSE/ https://susepaste.org/

I think you missed the point entirely I was trying to find out if other people have had similar experiences and was trying to find out if my experience was unique and to point out the possibilities involved in dealing with the problem. I wasn’t asking for help (I have had many years of computer experience and usually help other people) more like reassurance that this experience wasn’t unique. as far as my original problem goes the solution is simple. I will reinstall the newest snapshot from Tumbleweed on one instance and upgrade the other instance. Its a shame because this has been my favorite (trouble free) distribution for years. but if it wont do most on the configuration work by itself it will be deleted (still have 3 other Linux brands) Sorry if I upset anyone and it wont happen again. my last post was taken down so I must have upset someone. Again thanks for your help and good bye.

I took it down as we flagged it as a repeat of a question you had asked before then not replied too. I suspected you were a AI bot just posting random. Now i realise you are really, please accept my apologies for my error in removal.

No Problem

Thanks for your response, I was just hoping I wasn’t losing my mind.

Got a response from opensuse.org telling me i have 2 accounts.

Lou
