Thanks for the reminder, wonder what happened to a big part of the 650 who completed that post starting in 2018, we appear to have lost a good number on the way. Imagine if half of them were still active on the site.

No need for forcing anyone to ‘introduce themselves’ in my opinion. Not everyone is comfortable with that. Some people just want to ask for help and there is nothing wrong with that.
Spam accounts will still introduce themselves and go on with their spamming

It shouldn’t be compulsory in the sense that all users have to write down where you are from, what you do, etc., but rather your name and country. In fact, Abhishek mentions in the topic itself that users don’t need to provide details they don’t want to…
In my opinion, it doesn’t hurt feelings to introduce yourself like “Hi, I’m Jorge and I’m from Portugal”.

I think approving first posts goes a long way. This forum needs to be a safe space for everybody, and I don’t think requiring newcomers to introduce themselves is helpful in that regard.
If a mod takes a regular look at the new posts and approves legitimate ones in a reasonable timeframe will help a lot with keeping the forum clean from spam, while maintaining the safety of the forum.
We’d need mods around the world, though.

Yes I accepted @abhishek 's offer. From my point of view, I am there on trial. I will review it in a few months. I really want to keep doing what I have been doing, not branch out in new directions.
