I use firefox as my browser.
Today it had decided to use uint64 GB of disk space and complained about a full disk.. Needless to say, I don’t even get near such an amount of disk space used by anything. I don’t have billions of websites open – usually it’s two or three, five at most.
What could be going on?
Sorry, what is uint64? Never had issues with Firefox. I only use it.

How do you know the culprit was firefox? Was it a firefox error message.

Yes. At first various web-apps and -sites started complaining about a lack of disk space, then I started looking and found websites were using quite a lot of disk space, according to firefox.
Keep an eye on your extensions if any.
