I have been using Kodachi but find that when I try to access anywhere I have to sign in, I am rejected as suspicious.
I have had the same problem with Proton vpn.
How do I configure these applications to make them usable?

That is normal behaviour in most Linux distros.
It is supposedly a security feature. In a workplace, if you left your screen unattended, someone could use it destructively if this feature were diasbled. At home it does not make much sense.
One way to avoid it is to put your userloginname in the root group… but beware, that gives you extended permissions.
