So I just had the most annoying issue, and I still haven’t figured it out, so maybe the collective here can give some insight as to what might be going on.
I have virt-manager installed on 2 machines - one that I’ve been using for quite a bit now, and the other one is a new installation. I was trying to move a VM from one machine to the other. So basically I ended up following the steps in Restoring a KVM Backup with Virt-Manager - changing the file paths in the xml file, and everything … it won’t boot, it goes to grub-rescue. Finally I gave up and just reinstalled the VM from scratch on the second machine, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the virt-manager version. The new installation says its version 8.0.0 and the older one is 9.0.0 (doesn’t make sense I know) but I can’t get the older one to upgrade no matter what I do…
If anyone feels like being nerdy and trying this on their end, I’d appreciate the saving from losing my mind here. LOL
