Hi, thanks for posting this as a problem, yes i can see a reply from jorge to you but cannot find your original post.
Please stay with us whilst we investigate further.
I will ask Neville to also check and come back to you.
There have been a couple of odd items this week but not connected to you or your account.
As we have said before you are very welcome and we look forward to your input and sharing of information
Regards
Paul
ok. thank you very much Paul.
The logs say that you deleted the account yourself.
Relax, we all have accidents⦠I would not like to see you discouraged.
ok i just cant recall doing it but it is what it is sorry for the truble
I canāt find any place where a user can delete their account themselves and that has been the case with Discourse since its inception. Users who wish to delete their account (for whatever reason) can only ask a Mod to do that for them.
Unless you know differently of courseā¦
I searched and could not find his deletion either, mystery
if the user now has two accounts, I seem to recall you can merge them. Just needs him to say which one should be the one retained.
Here is the log
So what does āDeleted by self ..ā mean?
I thought it means the user deleted hi own account?
We need this clarified
@abhishek ⦠can you tell us please , did cat-man accidentally delete his own account or did the system do it? If the system did it ⦠then why?
We can t have the system running wild and deleting people.
well to be honest i cant remember deleting my account and why would i when this is the most friendly forum i ve been to and the knowlige of linux i very high.
My friends,
first of all, sorry to butt in on this conversation.
Our moderators are doing their best to figure out what caused the account to be deleted - please give them some time to get to the bottom of it.
There are members who havenāt been here long and may not know us yet, but those of us whoāve been on the forum for a while have complete trust in our moderators - we canāt even imagine the work they put in so we can be here at ease and maintain this atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.
@cat-man, Iāll bump the posts where I replied to you
jorge
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
As best I can tell he only has one account under cat man. At this time. I cannot see a deletion option for a end user. But Neville and I are looking at the system and checking from different stand points to arrive as to why.
We do appreciate cat man for bringing it to out attention and will follow through, just in case there is an issue.
Like all we do make judgement calls at times for spam, AI, inappropriate messages, anything considered exist, racist, political or could cause illfeelings, which we do address. Our aim is to make our shared forum a good place to ask questions, share knowledge and experiance. Plus as important a good place to be, without concerns over posts, even if going off topic at times.
I think you should know that there are options only visible to Moderators and not ordinary users in Discourse. No-one that I see is hassling the Mods but sometimes adding information from the user perspective can be helpful in solving issues - hence my screenshot. Iām not even sure cat-man even knows where to access to those settings.
That seems to stack up as it seems from his user card that he only joined (at this time) 17 hours ago and ISTR that a deleted account flags Mods if an attempt is made to reuse a user account from the same IP address as a spam avoidance measure.
but I do agree that time should be given to investigate further.
