I noticed whenever I post a reply or post, it needs to be approved by a moderator. I have already posted some replies and this has been going for some time. When will that annoying restriction be removed? Is this for every user or will it disappear after a set time?
I have replied direct to your question on email
Hi George
Since the begining of this site we have been subject to a number of spam emails, this has grown in numbers recently hence we have put in place an approval system.
Normally the site is checked on a regular basis and any waiting approval are released. This wait changes throughout the day depending on our availability.
After a number of agreed or approved replys you are no longer subject to that delay.
You should shortly move into that group.
Sorry for any delays you are experiancing.
Regards
Paul
Hi George,
Can I just add to what Paul said. Dont take it personally… it applies to every new user. There is no problem with your posts, you will get free access soon.
Regards
Neville
Oh, so there are no reports or problems on my posts, right? Does it have something to do with Discourse’s Trust Levels?
No problems with your posts, in fact I was the one to approve them
Yes it is trust levels, once you pass the set limits you dont get stopped by them any more.
But, there is always a but,
If any member objects to any post, not just yours, but anyone then it can be flagged and looked at. This includes my own posts or Neville, none of us are behond reproach, that way we keep the site safe and trouble free.
Usual subjects relogion, abuse, money, sex, selling you get the idea.
Do you happen to know what these limits are?
Usually on of the modération team reviews your account and we change your status, rather than saying after a set number of posts. Both Neville and myself are new to the modération team so not fully clear all of the rules and settings…
I have changed your account and now your comments should pass direct without reference to us. But as you are the first I have done I hope its sucessful.
OK, so you edited George’s trust level.
I thought it was going to be automatic after a number of posts?
@sourav can you clarify please ?
Hey, I just posted and it’s the same.
So did I but could not find where or how. Yes changed trust level but that did not help, he was stuck awaiting approval
I too await an answer or guide.
@sourav , can we sort this out please?
Here is what Abhishek said
“Now, any post from new accounts will have to be manually approved by a moderator.”
So when and how does a new account become a normal account? Something other than trust level is involved?
@abhishek Can you maybe clarify?
When we have a clear answer we will share it, learning curve for ys all
When I put the restrictions, it was supposedly for new topics from a new member. It is certainly annoying to have it for every post and reply.
It seems that the spam attacks have paused to I’ll lift the restrictions.
Thanks for the extra info
Thanks @abhishek ,
It might just need a bit of tuning.
I think you need something at least for the first post of a new user.
Did you block the use of links in a first post?
Good, I’m happy about that
