I dislike that. Also Intel Clear linux.
I could use my hot pluggable sata cage that way. It will take 4 2.5 in sata drives so I could use one as a sandbox. Good idea.

Good adviceā¦ Belt and braces
Since I failed to update my Covid-19 vaccination this fall, and I contracted it, for the first time, if you havenāt taken the shot, youād be best advised to do so ASAP, just to be safe. Considering I have/had both Covid-19, and Pneumonia at the same time, I suspect that the Pneumonia weakened my immune system against the Covid-19, but be that as it may be, if Iād taken all the vaccinations that Iām due for sooner, I wouldnāt be dealing with this now.
Vaccines have been a way of life for me since the middle 50s, when I got my first Salk polio preventative. Since then, my siblings and I, and our kids, and our grandkids have had every vaccination possible. Not vaccinating kids is pretty close to child neglect or abuse.
Agree
I get mine as soon as its offered, luckily I have had nothing, my step daughter and her partner have had covid 2 times, they both get the injections and are obsessed with hand washing, wipes, jel you name it.
In some ways thing they are in overkill mode.
I also keep up my tetanus jabs as I do lots of sports and a first aider so never know what I may come across
There is a world of difference between say polio vaccination, where the immunity lasts a lifetime, and say flu vaccine where you have to keep re-vaccinating because the virus changes. asome diseases like tetanus, whooping cough, pneumonia, are inbetween ā¦ you need a booster every 5-10 years. ā¦
I am much happier with vaccines being used where you get long term immunity.
I worry whether vaccination is the right approach for things like flu, where you need a shot every year. Repeatedly stimulating the immune system like that may have unintended consequences. You body can only make so many antibodies. I think we may need to be more selective about when to use immunization.
I have had 4 covid shots and pneumonia, but I dont get flu shots. Longer term I get tetanus and anthrax because that is routine for sheep and wool handlers.
Is complicated, at one stage it was every 5 years, then once for life, then every 10 years ā¦ now france say every 5 years.
Guess it depends on your exposureā¦ i wondered about hepatitis and if I should get that, mixed replies, so not done so yet.
Respiratory diseases are the debatable ones. The immune system does not detect respiratory infections as readily as it detects blood infections. By the time the immune system detects flu , it is close to too late for its response to help.
The same applies to covid, but it is so dangerous we have to try something.
We donāt often see the word āmalevolentā here. Iāve often suspected that LibreOffice has been infiltrated by innocuous-looking bugs and omissions that just happened to make it almost unusable in a normal business or educational environment. Language configurations getting confused with date and number settings is just the most obvious one.
Sorry to say but unless you have a new top end spec pc windows runs like a dog, slow, and so many updates that take forever to do and always at wrong moment
Personally I will stick with my 10 year old linux machine
Date of manufacturing is 2017, I use Linux, and even tried Linux on this machine, total waste of time!!! Do not know where you get your info from, but Windows 11 has no more updates than Ubuntu does, and probably, not as many
I have clients on windows, every time they bring a machine in the issue is virus problems!
I switch it on, needs to do a update, 30 mins Later when its finished, i remove the virus of which there are many, re boot another bloody update ā¦
So my windows expƩrience is where i get it from
Normally the client is so fed up with windows i move them to linux, over the last 20 years only had 2 clients reject linux solutions and over 400 linux upgrades from windows.
1 was because she thought I would give her a new machine for free, the other lacked intelegence, she kept saying windows did not do this where in fact except the colour of the button it did exactly the same thingā¦ think maximise, minimise, closeā¦
Your clients need a Windows PC in S mode!!!
This does not stop you getting virus problems it just limits you as to where you get your softwareā¦
So if you want libreoffice or open office, you pay the store
If you want to replace edge with google you pay the store
Ok its peanuts !
But after you get a virus that windows defender or security essentials did not block so need superantispyware, malwarebytes, adwcleanerā¦ you pay the store or dont get them
Once you switch off the s mode you cannot restore it.
Sadly been here done this even when I wear my microsoft tee shirt ā¦
Will not claim to be an microsoft fan or expert but former trainer in microsoft professionnel levels up to 2021 when the exams retired before me. And former business partner.
Are you referring to your recent LFS effort?
That is hardly a fair comparison.
That machine should run any of the major Linux distros really well, and if you choose a fixed release distro the updates should be minimal . If you choose a rolling release distro you get eternal LTSā¦ Windows cant do thatā¦ It is stuck on fixed release cycles.
Yes it is the same machine, and no I am not comparing anything to LFS!!! After trying Debian and Ubuntu, and not being pleased with either, I gave up, and did a gpt, installed W10 and updated W10 Pro to W11 Pro and used clonezilla to clone to the SSD, and I am very pleased with the results.
That is not quite true, Microsoft does feature updates, one usually in April and October!!!
That is not the same as rolling release.
I think Gentoo and Arch and Void and Solus have the right ideaā¦ lots of regular small updates and never have to jump to a new release.
They all seem to me to work better than any of the fixed release distros. Windows should rollā¦ then you would only have to pay for it onceā¦ maybe once per machine.
An interesting blog on The importance of Linux
Try with only 4GB and a HDD.
Debian XFCE or LMDE would boot then in about a minute, whereas Win would need couple minutes to get usable after a cold boot.
Windows is dead simple for its users, but it does this on an expense hugely wasting resources (cpu cycles, RAM, disk IO).
For me itās a bad deal to have 16GB just to be able to run the OS. I have 16GB both in my laptop and desktop, but I can use them to run Davinci. On Windows Iād need 32GB probably?
So if something is a nightmare, thatās the Windowsā¦
Windows NT is nowadays a new acronym: stands for Never Try!
At least for me
