Posted notice of problem on March 13th 2024
I decided to call attention to this issue here on ItsFoss to provide this info to its members. I spent days working on the form I was creating and every time I tested it, it failed. As I hadn’t created a form in LliberOffice before that had tabbed fields I was sure that I was making a mistake. I then tried some other software to access the form and input data and it worked in everything else I tried. I realized then that it was a problem with xreader and submitted a bug report. I don’t have a machine running ubuntu so I don’t know if this is the default pdf reader.
Distribution: Mint 21.3 and Debian LDME 6
Package version: 4.0.2
Frequency: Always
Bug description
I have a document that is setup to use the tab key to move between fields in order (i.e. name, date, address, etc). In xreader it does not follow the order coded in the document. The order works properly in other readers such as my browser, thunderbird and qdpf view.
Registration Form(1).pdf
Steps to reproduce
Start with entering name and then tab key goes to address, then to state, to city, to zip to phone to home to cell to email and after 8 more tabs winds up in comments.
Expected behavior
Start with entering name and then tab key to date, tab key to address, tab key to city, to state, to zip, to phone to home to comments. Cell and the other five check boxes are not tab fields.
Additional information
Form works properly with Windows 10/11 default readers.
This is the latest version available in the software managers for mint 21.3 and LDME 6.
