Yorkshire day 1 august

That is a good question and really hard to answer

Many say he robbed the rich to give to the poor, other just say he was a theif, many questions his existence or even if it was one man … Some question if he was the brother of Richard King of England

As he was a yorkshire man he took it all for himself and his team.

I thought Robin Hood was purely fictional? i.e. possibly even more mythical than King Arthur - who could be based on a real historical figure - but nobody’s sure as nobody in Britain was writing stuff down at the time…

My in-laws were from Yorkshire - my father-in-law grew up despising Catholics - and I thought that was the case throughout most of Yorkshire… Because it’s on the East Coast - they didn’t get a huge influx of Irish like Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, and also Glasgow… My father-in-law was raised Wesleyan, my mother-in-law CofE… I think there was a considerable Irish Catholic population in Leeds and Sheffield (after the onset of the industrial revolution) - but not really elsewhere…

I dont want to get into the religion bit to judge one against another.

My mother was catholic, my father was church of England. In my home town we had cherches of them both plus, methodist, baptist, salvation army, orthodox, spiritualist, latterday saints, plus a masonic lodge (not sure if that is a religion) and the town was only 1 square mile.

when I married we moved to another bigger town which had more bars, pubs, clubs that any other in the UK. A different religion and more popular …,
