Bad news on two fronts

I’ve had to get used to ctrl- v pasting with Firefox for a good while. My wife, who only likes Firefox, on her PC (upon which I put FerenOS, she no like) still got Win10 PC, had to show her that’s why links on emails didn’t take. On Windows, I use Edge, all my assorted Linuxesesses, [sic] I always use Firebox. I found other browsers flicker Brave or, well, I’m not synced with them. Some stick Vivaldi on them, and then I have to go through the little hoop to get FF.

Learned a new word today, then. Me one too.

Not to be confused with Sun guitar amplifiers, whose motto was: “Feel the power of the Sun!”

LFS is not the only route to building a custom distribution. There are several scripts on Github for people’s custom distributions. I’ve been experimenting with Shoebox Linux and some of its forks. There are other desktops besides Gnome out there. There are several desktop options so users have the ability to choose between Wayland or some form of X (Xlibre, tinyx, etc.). Maybe it’s time to start looking into building an alternative for yourself or finding projects with similar concerns who are working alternative solutions.

Thank you I needed to know that.

Yes, I want to do that. … because I want to build something that suits me. I also think it is important to build something small that I fully understand.

I’ve been looking into building my own distribution from scratch for a while now. The new age verification laws are discouraging because if I do make something useful, there would be issues sharing it with anyone. I would love to find a Linux or BSD community that matched my goals or even some of my goals, but it’s really hard to find groups with similar goals. If you ever want to compare notes on building from source or are interested in some of the useful, lightweight FOSS applications out there, let me know.
