Best Alternative to Firefox?

Namaste everyone!

So recently, Firefox added a ‘Privacy Policy’ and it basically means it’s going to use our data. ‘TheLinuxExperiment’ has decoded the privacy policy, you can check it out here:

So what are your opinions on this? And which browser(s) are better than Firefox according to you?

I’m thinking of Floorp / Librewolf

Thanks for the data

Normally I use in Linux

  • Brave
  • Firefox
  • Chrome
  • Opera
  • Vivaldi

I know Brave and Vivaldi are based on Chrome (if I am not wrong) but with special things about privacy etc

Hi all,

did you see this:

and …

According to soeren hentzschel:

In reality, there are only legal reasons for this adaptation. This is about the definition of the term “sales of data”, which is not the same everywhere in the world.
Mozilla had to refrain from this definite formulation to avoid making itself vulnerable. However, according to most people understand what data is selling, Mozilla has never sold the data of its users and this will not continue before.

Your bank details might be, if they have been used online.

My french bank has a special software tool which is hsed to access the bank linked to my phone for another code, in theory fool proof !

I use Firefox. I don’t even have any other browsers installed. Thunderbird for emails. Still trusting Mozilla

Same for me but am a bit sceptical about it being fool proof.

Anyway, back on topic, I use Firefox and Brave but am looking at LibreWolf as an alternative.
Does what it says on the tin as far I see with early days of use.

That is very poor English… what does it mean?

There is more confusion due to the English used by mozilla itself. You can check the video i shared.

Hi Neville, :waving_hand:

Sorry, you´re right.
Soeren Hentzschel´s site is in German. I just let firefox do the translation of the cited paragraph.

It should be:

“Mozilla has never sold any of it´s user´s data and doesn´t intend to do so in future”.

Hope it helps.

Many greetings from Rosika :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Rosika,
Thank you.
So it keeps data, but does not sell it.
I suppose that means it could be stolen?
I would prefer a browser that does not keep data.
What do you think?
Regards
Neville

Hi Neville, :waving_hand:

That´s certainly a good idea. Any suggestions for improving the level of security are welcome.

Do you know of such a browser :red_question_mark:

Hi Rosika,
Yes, Waterfox does not keep data.
Control of Waterfox has gone back to its original creator

The ‘docs’ folder on github has lots of info.

Have a read

Hi Neville, :waving_hand:

thanks for the links. I´ll read up on them.

Watefox seems a good suggestion.
firejail even comes with a profile for it:

ll /etc/firejail | grep waterfox
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 196 Aug 15 2021 waterfox-classic.profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 196 Aug 15 2021 waterfox-current.profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 975 Aug 15 2021 waterfox.profile
