I understand England and Russia have lots and lots of cameras that also can track people and/or cars.
Flock cameras
Do we measure them now like sheep ?
Flock is a brand name.
In parts of Australia we have interlinked cameras for speed control over long lengths of road.
Th big thing about all such systems is they implement a technology with inadequate attention to security of any stored data.
Computer security is either
- a lost cause, or
- an enormous handicap to operation of a system
because, OS’s are inherantly insecure and it can only be patched not fixed.
I think it is a good idea to give police an extra set of eyes. It is like a scientist getting a microscope. We have to live with leaky storage… there is no fix.
eg) One of Australia’s major electricity supplies just announced that its customer database had been hacked. People use power bills as ID. We all just shrug our shoulders and ignore it… what else can we do?
