Distrowatch not accessible?

But did you try uninstall and then reinstall

Or

Clear your browser cache

Not yet, but it is coming… you cant uninstall Samsung browser, if you try it sets it back to factory default version.

Cleared the cache … did not help.

Note : I have a pending patch for Android from Samsung that keeps nagging me daily - but I won’t do it - last year (September?) an Android patch from Samsung broke my Cloud Sync (ResilioSync) - and I won’t risk having it broken again…

Sometime in December or early Jan - another Samsung patch for Android fixed my broken ResilioSync sync… But I need that more than I need the latest revision to Android 16…

I have all the patches. It does not fix the distrowatch problem.
You dont need to risk losing resilio sync for that.

Would changing the DNS help or not. Never needed to do it myself but dropped into this item and wondered

If the dns server were doing the blocking, I think it would block all browsers?
DDG works, only Samsung browser blocks.
Interesting idea.

Silly qu3stion

Can you go to any well known site in américain or the uk using samsung browser such as

Honda.com or honda.co.uk

Where you are forcing the browser to a country

I remember you saying it was an import tablet and limited changes available but have you looked at Check Parental Controls

honda.co.uk works fine in Samsung browser

Just to report that I also get the same error when trying to access distrowatch from my Samsung browser on Samsung Z Fold 6. I did not have this problem until a few days ago. I do not remember that I updated the browser; it just stopped working with distrowatch. Today I updated the One UI but the issue persists. On the other hand I can open the website with Firefox on the same phone.

It sounds like it was caused by a bad update to Samsung Browser. I am not sure when my problem started.
Mine is
android 16
samsung internet 29.0.1.12

I owe you and apologie

I thought i was using the samsung browser when i fact i am using google chrome without realising. Just checked my versions numbers and realised my error.

Samsung browser does not work on distrowatch but chrome does.

Although i have the samsung version installed I am told that i have never used it. But in my défense i leave my browser open on start up so never needed to check, same with my orange mail and my open tabs point at our foss site automatic never needed to change

Sorry user error

Thanks for correction.
It looks like everyone with Android 16 has the problem

everyone with Android 16 from Samsung using “Samsung Internet”… I doubt other Android 16 users are using “Samsung Internet” - what a dodgy name for a browser anyway… Yeah… Nah…

Just to confirm - “Samsung Internet” on my Galaxy S23 Ultra on Android 16, is “29.0.01.12”…

I don’t use it - in fact - I kinda HATE it… I don’t care if they never fix it… And I never visit distro-watch either anyway - from anywhere on any browser… In fact I’d forgotten how ugly it was (distrowatch)… It looks like something some high school kid knocked up in AoL or “GeoCities” in 1995, probably using Microsoft Frontpage

As mentioned earlier - the only time I’ve used Samsung’s shonky browser - was via DeX - but that was like 5+ years ago on Android 10 or something… Both Chrome and Brave work perfectly well via DeX these days…

Same version as my tablet.

Yes it is a second rate browser. I prefer DDG or Waterfox for Android. Chrome is there too , of course … you cant get rid of either Samsung or Chrome.
Years ago I used to like Puffin … until they went nonfree.

I use DuckDuckGoose browser on my phone and it reaches Distrowatch quite nicely.

I am not a fan of the ddg search does not give me the results i prefer google search and with chrome everything is linked together phone tablet and linux machines. For a period I tried chromium but that caused linking problems between devices and only let you have one google account.

I dont like that.
With me every device is separate… syncing is a recipe for trouble.

What I would use is something like google photo for files … I know and use dropbox but its free use is very limited, almost useless.

Mega offers 20 GB of free cloud storage for either backup or sync.
And it is open source. Bigger then Dropbox, but still not much storage.
