Welcome back @arun

There were plenty such tools and I had covered them on It’s FOSS as well.

A few of them are:

  • Wallch (should be available in most distros repositories)
  • BingWall (sets the Bing wallpaper of the day)

Some other recommendations can be found here although I haven’t updated this article for some time:

For many years I happily use ‘Variety’ with Wallpaper from many sources ,including my own . sudo apt install variety
Wall paper change can be set from 5 minutes to longer periods.

Frank, Variety is the best one. I regularly capture nice photos from Facebook, save them in an external HDD, and add that folder to Variety’s selection criteria so I can mix them in with the already massive selections. Variety seems to be available in every distro’s software manager or in Synaptic Package Manager.

I dont get it. Is linux not interesting enough? Why do you people need to be entertained by wallpaper?

Bet you count sheep … ha ha ha … sorry Neville

Simple things and if windows can do it some want the same ideas

Me, i watch paint dry as we dont have a garden to watch the grass grow.

Better shut up in case i offend someone else !

About the only thing that ever impressed me about Win10 was it had this lovely background picture of a mob of sheep escaping through a hole in a fence.
I would love to ‘borrow’ it for my Linux

I use an awesome wallpaper app on Windows called John’s Background Switcher. Once I retire my goal is to reproduce it on Linux.

It’ll change the background image as often or as seldom has you configure. The pictures can come from many sources.

You also have a choice of how to arrange the picture or pictures on the desktop.

Here is my current background.

A lot, 1.4 MB’s worth.

Like that, but its not the one
Its a more distant view with 2 paddocks and the sheep escaping thru a fence or hedge.

Sheep are counted in 3’s. They tend to group that way when running thru a gateway.

You need a second screen just for the background

I have three screens.

So we have different counting methods
Metric
Imperial
Binary
Octal
Hexadecimal
And now sheep …

Guess each has its reason …

Thanks,
Though it is not related to Linux, but in Variety, how can I add,

National Geo pic library / Feed
or
Live earth view from space station …

And if you get a fractional number, you know there’s a shepherd too

If this is a golf playground, it’s just under maintanance, grass being cut…
So the position of the hole is unimportant at the moment
