I keep learning new things about Garuda Linux!

They use 590 driver so it should work

Agree .
Lets fiddle around a bit first … he has now got the xfce version to boot. We need to define where the problem lies.

I find it strange that a rolling release arch based distro would not be up to date with its nvidia drivers.?

Looks like it is not a problem with out of date drivers.

Now we have something to work on.
Did you choose the noveau driver in that initial menu?
Go back to your kde or whatever iso and try the same.

Yours is not a 1000 series gpu?

I choosed the second option not the open driver it did not specify noveau, propriety or something like that. and i just tried the Mokka version of garuda and it did not work its just loading for over 6 min and then error mesage

So it depends on which DE?
I did not expect that.
Do you think you can narrow it down any further … we need to tell Garuda.

I tried garuda cinnamon but its the same it loads for over 6 min the error mesage and i tried both driver versions and its the same with both, and the wired thing is when i click on load with wichever driver my keyboard and mouse stops working they get no power. and to be honest i dont want to fiddle more with garuda its depressing lol when its not working right, xfce did boot but i dont want that version and as of now i dont want to try garuda any more i got Fedora and cachyos and they work fine, and right now i dont want to try other distros either im happy with what i got working now.

The other thing about garuda that may not have suited your purpose is that it uses the btrfs filesystem. … That might be inconvenient if sharing files with other linuxes..

Dont think its that Cachyos has that filesystem and it works great.
Even Fedora use btrfs

All distros that use btrfs area a ram hungry hog, I will avoid them like the plague or covid!! Each to there own!!

yeah you do that, just like i avoid windows. Each to there own!!

If you have had W11 installed, that PC of yours would have already been running, with no need of Linux!! Look, I am not going to argue here, I run Linux, but only on machines, that actually need Linux, that Windows has abandoned!! Have a good day!!

my pc is running and have been running with fedora and cachyos for a long time and im happy with it as it is. Have an even better day !!

I can do that. I’ll have to go back thriugh the previous posts to get @cat-man’s mobo make/model, his NVIDIA graphics adapter model and whatever else I can gather, but they should know that at least one potential user was not able to launch any image other than Garuda-xfce.

Thanks Ernie…you know their forum.

I collected @cat-man’s hardware info:

Ryzen 7 9800 cpu
GIGABYTE b850M d3HP MOTHERBOARD
NVIDIA GeForce rtx5070ti 16 VRAM graphics card
32gb RAM
2 1TB NVME SSD Drives

and posted the issue on the Garuda forum. They’re getting ready to create & post a new set of live image ISOs because they recently requested community input/submissions for desktop backgrounds, so hopefully the newer images will better support newer hardware,
