Kubuntu memory problems

Does anybody know how to connect a mobile modem (Nokia C7 phone) to use the internet on it to connect the PC to the internet? Have tried multiple times with multiple settings & it hadn’t worked.I know it’s possible as I have Kubuntu on my old laptop before it broke & was able to connect my phone & use the exact same phone as a modem,my friend hooked it up but I don’t remember how.

I have dual boot with windows which I was told is hogging up space & getting errors like the program “plasmashell” closed unexpectedly

Your computer does not have enough free memory to automatically analyze the problem and send a report to the developers. Also Firfox tabs frequently crash.Is there anything I can do as a temporary fix? I will be switching Ubuntu flavour in about 2 months but it’s making the PC freeze even if i shut down the PC 3 times a day.It’s making it a pain to use Kubuntu.

Sounds like either you truly have too little memory or your memory is faulty.

Run memtest86+ and if it has OK results, add more memory. If not, replace the RAM stick that causes errors.

ok,thanks,It’s a new laptop with not a lot of files though,so I suspect Windows is hogging the memory somehow… Will have a look at the link & get back to you

That’s impossible if Windows is not run.

Post the exact brand + model of your device and post all the specs of it by appending it to your original post.

You have to select the standard diagnosis. It is kind of self-explaining. If you still have a hard time, then just look it up on the internet.

Try it! It is a sequence of tests of all the physical areas of RAM storage. It will read out your total RAM, and identify if any of your RAM sticks has an issue.
Back in the day, I used to just sit mesmerized by the data scrolling by on my screen. Now, tere are just too many tests to keep my attention for that long.

@01101111 thanks,which one thought,the New USB is for Windows (I could boot into Windows if that’s easier,I’m not good with doing things from the terminal…)

creating the usb should be fairly similar to how you made your kubuntu usb. if using windows seems like it would be easier, that might work. the installer is for up windows 7 and the link you shared says your computer is windows 10.

Tried from both the website you linked to which booted into Kubuntu and from what I think is the original website from a tutorial .

if i am reading that correctly, it looks like it all went well. to verify, you got 0 errors?

@01101111 yeah but the freezing & tab crashing is definitely still there. 2 errors when it booted into Kubuntu but it didn’t say what they were “Errors found in 2 files”

dmesg -H --level=err
can you run that command in your terminal and look through the output to see there are any messages about memory or those two files.

@ Akido.Thanks for fixing the formating.Do you think these errors are what is causing the freezing/memory problems or is this another issue? Will have a read through all the links.
