Ok, all that looks normal!!! The only thing I can think of now is with your bridged connection to the Protonmail server with Thunderbird. From what I have read, concerning Protonmail, is that support very erratic, so good luck with that. You might delete the Protonmail Thunderbird mail account and enter a new account with the proper settings. Since both LM and Kubuntu both have the same issue, then your problem lies with Thunderbird and Protonmail. Are you using a paid version of Protonmail?
Yes. And why would deleting and redoing the accounts in thunderbird help? The IMAP/SMTP addresses are the same in the bridge GUI as they are set to now?
Just trying to understand.
Sheila
I have no idea, just a suggestion from the internet, but something is wrong with Protonmail, and unless you are willing to find or use an alternative to Protonmail, then good luck.
Switching mail providers to âtestâ in Thunderbird? Because been using PM and bridge and Megasync for 4 years with no issues. Donât see how that relates, but letâs say you want me to test a different email provider. I have an email on yahoo.com Do you want me to try and add that into Thunderbird and if it works, just like PM emails all currently work, what would that prove/mean?
Sheila
Also, not sure if it would help, but while I was in the earlier time, I copied a Megasync log over to my desktop which shows the dates just before/after Megasync failed. Would it help to see that? I donât understand most of it, but I do see before it saying âlocal network adapters havenât changedâ then later on, it starts showing errors. Just a thought on maybe that could reveal what changed.
Sheila
I doubt it would on my part, since I do not use either Megasync or Protonmail.
My best advice, for you, at this point would be to pull the drive you are dual booting linux and install linux, I would go with either Ubuntu or Kubuntu and see if you can get things to work. One rule, I have learned the hard way is never dual boot linux on the same drive, just too many things that can go wrong. Good luck!!!
Thanks, but I have to be able to assist 3 family members with both systems and I need to be able to see them to remember how to do stuff.
I will find a way, somehow. But thanks for all your help.
Sheila
Hi @Sheila_Flanagan,
Probably will not help, but I was wondering if you can log onto your Megasync account thru the internet.
Howard,
Yes that was one of the first questions from Mega support. And I can. However, while waiting for this to get fixed (since it broke Tuesday) I decided to upload a folder to ensure they are backed up. Got âfile errorâ with no indication of why. So I started uploading just one file at a time and that worked.
My biggest gripe is why if I am purging all megasync (including going into both Kubuntu and LM and deleting the folders for syncing as they are being left after uninstall) then when I try to redownload/install, no matter how I do it, I never get that fresh install window where you choose to sync everything or selective sync. That Mega icon just appears on the taskbar and starts trying to log in but never succeeds.
Sheila
Disable your firewall and see if that may help.
@4dandl4 okay. Iâll try and see what happens.
Sheila
Okay, I donât currently have Mega installed because it never truly does a fresh install. Read my reply to Howard above. Should I try again to install and hope it actually starts like I have never had it? I did a search in terminal and found a script that I cannot find but it is the install for Mega. So I donât know if the install will work afresh.
Sheila
I dont know if any application would have altered network config files behind your back.
The only case like that I have seen is programs altering wpa_supplicant .conf.
In any case, reinstalling Mega should have fixed any network config issue.
Do you use NetworkManager? It can get itself in knot.
I think the problem has to be with Mega, and they are not admitting it.
But due to the thing âpicking up where it left offâ I donât feel like it is really being freshly installed. Should there be this script for install after purging Megasync?
p megadown - Script for downloading files from mega.nz
or this:
p megatools - Command-line client for the Mega cloud sto
Sheila
Purge does not always do a clean job.
It often refuses to remove config files, if it thinks some other app might be sharing them
It usually does a good enough job to get you out of difficulties.
This time maybe not?
You can explicitely delete any remaining items, but be careful.
What does dpkg -l | grep mega
show?
I donât use anything for network except clicking the wifi icon on taskbar and choosing which to connect to. I do have a wifi extender since my home is so big and the router and modem are far away. But as I said before, I know nothing about localhost and networking other than how to connect.
I am gonna try one more time to install Mega, even though i am tired of having to hunt down everything it leaves and get rid of it. I also uninstalled it from Kubuntu so there could NOTHING for it to find at install and even that did not help.
This time, for the first time ever, when trying to install from software manager, got the following error (maybe I deleted something, idk):
Error deploying: While trying to checkout f2423226a6622f1778a3d3a080225c961c60b6c77c7aeb351c2ca3dd87a78000 into /var/lib/flatpak/app/nz.mega.MEGAsync/x86_64/stable/.f2423226a6622f1778a3d3a080225c961c60b6c77c7aeb351c2ca3dd87a78000-KPZZ81: Opening content object 07b9be0080fc5cf01d5dc9851ef1a0d39c8f483d77b94be9b12bef6706738f8f: Couldn't find file object '07b9be0080fc5cf01d5dc9851ef1a0d39c8f483d77b94be9b12bef6706738f8f'
Donât know what the heck that means.
