No, it’s not a trick question, buddy. Pi-hole is indeed a very powerful networking tool that has lots of potential. In fact, I conducted a test and managed to speed up my network by approximately 25 percent in terms of baud rate. However, I must admit that I don’t have intimate knowledge of its security flaws. It’s always essential to consider the trade-offs between performance improvements and potential security risks when implementing such tools. I now have Pi as my DHCP server

pihole running fine, doing the job. I have it on a Raspberry Pi, running 24/7 for several months.

I used to have a Pi3 then a Pi4 running PiHole… it worked reasonably well…

But as I was using Brave - I no longer needed it…

When I set it as the DNS server for my LAN (from Router DHCP scope) - my daughters complained that it messed up their iPad internet access… So I disabled (set DHCP scope to use the router as DNS).

So I set my NIC on my Linux desktops manually and pointed to the PiHole for DNS…

But - Brave does all the ad blocking I need so no longer have PiHole running…

Working perfectly No more adblockers, however can accomplish the same thing with a host file.

At the time I had an iPad Pro (12.9" 2017/2018) - I wasn’t affected…

You could try it - and if it messes with iPad - change your WIFI (DHCP) to not use the PiHole server as DNS… But manually set Windows and Linux and MacOS to use the PiHole as DNS server?

That’s pretty much how it works - i.e. it keeps a database of known advertising URLs…

You mean like antiX does… its host file ends up with thousands of entries for blocked sites. It is a bit clumsy.

While having Pi-hole as my DHCP server instead of relying on the router does come with its benefits, I must emphasize that setting it up flawlessly was entirely my own work. Just like with an LV setup, the step-by-step process involved configuring system settings and making adjustments based on actual displays.

Having Pi-hole handle DHCP for my network has allowed me to block almost every unwanted request across all connected networks. Now, integrating it as a local LAN network further enhances this capability.

Humm thats an issue, I shall investigate this in wireshark, I have wifi working with all devices including my printer, and 3d printer and phones.

Which one? What exactly is the issue?
