Experiences of a 50+ year old first-time Linux user

I am digging these responses. I also agree with jethro and nevj: Working with Linux and challenging myself has helped me overcome a few middle-aged issues I’ve been dealing with… the declining energy, the ennui that has set in, the sadness over the loss of loved ones and, most recently, being sidelined with COVID for about six or seven days.

Linux is more than an OS. It’s a challenge and as a challenge, it has helped me to heal old wounds and new ones simply by bringing complex problems to my mind that need to be solved. Like when I was a kid on a road trip begging for puzzle books to work in the backseat until I got motion sick (thanks to the Colorado Rockies among others). No two Linux users have the same setup. We may use Ubuntu Unity, but rest assured, our apps, our tweaks and more will be different.

Love it. Thanks to all for your warm replies. Peace be with you!
