Why does everyone hate AI?
Because it is a pathway to destruction of humanity… like nuclear weapons.
We need to put it on the doomsday clock

I don’t hate it.
I’m on the fence.

I’ll be dead before then.

I LOATHE the way it’s being marketed, and adopted, to replace the “good things” about being a human being - i.e. visual and musical creativity, speaking and writing… We need AI to take the drudgery out of existence, not the fun things that make existence worthwhile!

So do I, reason-ability is disappearing fast.

The only thing I dislike about AI is that it seems to be being forced on me, especially in Windows. I don’t object to others using it, I just don’t want to have it forced on me. If I decide to use AI, I want it to be my decision. Period!

Never was a truer statement made . . .

I think we all need a dose of drudgery to keep us sane.

Seems, Linux can’t avoid that either:

With you on that. Many years back they put things in place to stop it killing or hurting wonder if that is still true and if it will not allow a mix of things that coukd cause that to happen. For example suggesting more than a prescribed amount of a drug or mixing two different chemicals that could cause illness or death.

I am waiting for it to be (ab)used to spread hate speech.

That won’t be a long wait.

At this point, I don’t think AI is evolved enough to be left to its own decisions. In the case of medication dosages, doctors must still review and approve them. I suspect that there are people reviewing AI decisions/recommendations as well in other areas where it’s used extensively. Currently, my only experience with AI is when I make an Internet search in Firefox, or ask a question, an AI response appears at the top of my search results. It usually answers my question accurately, and in a manner I can easily understand, but I still look at several results to confirm the answer if the topic isn’t something I’m very knowledgeable about. Most of my searches are to find the correct command I need to accomplish some task in GNU/Linux when I’m uncertain about how to do what I want to do.

That concerns me too. That’s why I use several fact-check websites to confirm what I read/see/hear on the Internet. I never take anything from the Internet as fact unless I can independently confirm its accuracy for myself.

Nope! It’s already happening now.

I’m of the same mind.

I had the privilege of hearing some AI generated music recently. It’s all the same: uninteresting, not innovative, and boring.

Same goes for creative writing. Sure, AI can generate stories, but they’re all the same: uninteresting, not innovative, and boring.

It’ll be a while before AI actually replaces people in the creative industry, if ever.

It was never meant to. It was designed to be analytic.
Using it for creative purposes is a misuse.

I’ve seen several news reports over the last 18-24 months of layoffs in art departments. I’ve seen stories companies drop art studios and resort to using AI generated “imagery” instead…

100% I find it also deeply disturbing and immoral…

Damn - those who code, and love their jobs, are also “creatives” and AI is attempting to replace them too…
