So what would be an acceptable use?
Organising government services maybe?
Transport logistics?
Solving equations?
I wonder could we find something to use it for on this forum… apart from answering queries, which it is sometimes quite good at.

I suspect some of the other forum sites are already being replaced by this type of technology…perhaps in A few years this site will no longer exist. Except for sharing history personal stories, when I first did X etc
I think:
Doing the repetitive boring tasks, which are still necessary and practical to do.
Let the unpractical, unnecessary things done by humans. Such as painting, photographing, writing music, writing poetry, finding out how to express something with dance, finding out stories just to entertain others: in one word “art”. And of course: loving!
These are unnecessary, unpractical things, but basically this is what makes us human. Doing any of these by AI is an assassination attempt of humanity.
The companies which produce creative stuff who start depending on AI will soon enough regret that move, as AI is nowhere near capable of producing original content and is extremely prone to making obvious mistakes.
Also, people tend to notice pretty quickly when content is AI generated, and this turns them away.
AI can be a nice help, but using it to create your content is a fools errant.
Yes, and sometimes misleading
Like it tried to fool me with DR pruchase
We are nearly on the same wavelength.
There are 3 sorts of things that can wipe out humanity
I hope I did not disturb anyone there… apologies in advance , just in case
I think @kovacslt and @daniel.m.tripp and @xahodo sum it up pretty well. There are some uses of AI that make us sick, and that abuse is a deplorable waste of a resource that could be used much more wisely.
Not "could, but “should”!

Impending Asteroid 2024 YR4, Risk of Impact Is a Wait-and-See Question
So AI is no big deal, this may hit first
Failing that
Chernobyl radiation shield hit by Russian drone,
What else do we need to worry about, happy st valentines day

Oh, we may end up in a world governed by AI, where all education is abandoned, health services are robotic, transport is drones, sport is simulated, and we all lead a moronic sedentary life playing internet games.
…or, we may simply find ourselves being governed by AI - period. Then if the algorithm evolves enough to become self-aware, we could be facing extinction, as in the Sci-Fi movies. While I know this is an unlikely extreme, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. On the other hand, just being governed by an AI algorithm may leave us without our freedom, or the right to argue our case before a jury of our peers when charged with a crime. Ultimately, we must take care about how we use AI, and whether we give it any level of authority, now and in the future.
Just thinking out loud,

Is this a win for Linux?
AI may run faster/better on GNU/Linux than Windows, but the reasons stated in the item are true. That’s where the win for 'Linux" can be found if you ask me. AI isn’t the only area where GNU/Linux shines, is it? I think not.
Ernie
Certainly not.
Linux or BSD are absolute winners in scientific computing.
Not to mention nearly every other discipline …
As long as ChatGPT does stuff like this I’m not afraid of it taking any jobs requiring actual intelligence or succeeding at world domination.
I am afraid of AI taking the jobs and then not delivering the intelligence.
How would AI go as an airport traffic controller?
It would guide airplanes to ram one another mid-air or land at the same time on the same runway or something like that.
Not well …
Robotic guided AI surgery ?
Would you want a robot cutting on you?
